Since 1981, the Fondation des Treilles has been hosting every year in its domain located in the south of France, high-level international research teams in all fields of science, literature and the arts, in the framework of interdisciplinary seminars.
The structure of these seminars has been naturally determined by the missions of the Foundation:
- an original theme,
- a limited number of participants, in order to facilitate informal discussions, and a composition involving senior and junior researchers,
- a relatively short time (Monday to Saturday) compatible with the hope that each participant is able to stay throughout the conference,
- a program leaving plenty of time for questions and discussions.
The seminars last 6 days (arrival on Monday afternoon and departure on Saturday morning). Composed of 15 people from several disciplines and / or specialties, they must host a minimum of 2 young researchers (doctoral or post-doctoral). Approximately half of the participants must also work in France or in another European country.
The foundation can contribute to travel expenses within the limits of the estimate given in the application form. However, it is strongly recommended to organizers to seek for external funding. For information, after acceptance of your estimate by the foundation, the unused funds will be allocated to the “Young researchers prize“.
Transfers from and to Nice airport or Les Arcs – Draguignan railway station are arranged and covered by the Foundation.
Accommodation is also provided by the foundation. Please note that the invitations are strictly personal, spouses or guests are not allowed. Before applying, please read our conditions for accommodation.
Within one month after the end of the seminar, the organizer will send a two-page summary of the meeting for publication on the foundation’s website AND a short synthesis in French (half a page) for the Board’s annual activity report.
Furthermore, the Fondation des Treilles expects its support to be acknowledged in any work or publication resulting from the seminar; authors are invited to forward a copy of their publication.
How to apply?
For all disciplines, the potential organizer submits a seminar proposal by completing the application form and sending it before the deadline. Please note that incomplete applications or those received after the deadline for submission will not be considered.
Your application will be examined each year by the foundation’s Scientific Council at the beginning of November. The judgement of the Scientific Council, validated by the Board, is final. Applicants are informed of their decision in December.
